So Deere Drops $9.64 In The First Fifty Minutes of Trading.

Here is it's five day chart and a look at what the "just-slightly-out-of-th-money-call" options are trading at. It's a Tuesday. Now this, it keeps dropping. Now a 10:49 a.m. update. The stock has rebounded $1.00 Notice the asking price has jumped upwards. At 11:00 a.m. it is starting to slip again. Do you see this time how quickly the bid and ask declined? Here now is the stocks five day chart. What do I think? Since the stock had a nice jump yesterday I think it might rebound in the next few hours. Now might be a good time to jump in looking for an upward move. That's my read on things. Let's see what happens. It's still early in the week. Now here we are at 11:30 a.m. or 38 minutes later. Now this six minutes later? Can you see how someone got excited about a rebound and bought in at $5.10? Now this at 1:03 p.m.

Google Calls

This isn't a heading that will grab your attention. There is always news on Google doing something. This blog is about reacting to a chart formation and is in line with my recent focus on discussing the often dreaded topic of "one-day-options". Look at how Google bounced on Thursday morning.
Something caused the stock to spike the first thing in the morning. I don't know what it was. Here was two of it's news updates.
Here is how this series of Calls closed the day on Thursday.They closed at $2.00 and are $.20 cents "out-of-the-money".div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Let's move forward. Now here is how Google is trading at 9:33: a.m. It's up.
Now this, a suprise at 9:38 a.m.
Look at how quickly these Calls lost half their value. What is the DJIA doing? Not much.
Now this, six minutes later. Look at how quickly the action in the Call options increased.
By 10:00 a.m. they reached a high of three dollars.
Here now is it's five day chart just after 10:00 a.m.
Friday morning one day option trading is full of suprises. Here is a review of today's action.
It was the bounce on Thursday morning which attracted me to this situation.

Walmart again. It's all I seem to blog about. Here is it's five day chart. The stock keeps going up and the option series are set up in one dollar spreads. Even a fifty cent move on the stock moves the needle on these Calls. Look at how this series of Calls was trading yesterday at 3:00 p.m.. Now here is this same series of Calls just before noon today. Thirty days of upward action like this punctuated by the off day of decline. Now notice the higher volume of trading in the series of Calls with the higher striking price. These are the ones's with more leverage. At the same time look at the five day chart on Costco. The two stocks sometimes trade in tandem. Humpty dumpty sat on a wall .... a had a great fall. Someday soon a fall might happen but what a great ride it has been.

A Fireside Chat - One Year Options and Thirty Day Options. Which is Better?

Some say to think small, not big. Trying to play Disney options is thinking big. It is a stock slightly out of favor. If we start with it's a three year chart, we will see it is down by about 50% over that period of time. Now it's one year chart. If the stock can break 110 in early 2024 the sky is the limit. It does have a lot of moving parts so anything could happen. Look at these Calls options one year out. One year in options buys a lot of time.They look reasonable. If the stock ever inched up to the $105.00 price level in the three or four months these options would jump up in price by about 50%. Even more if they had really good news. Yet it's the "what-if" aspect of the equation that castes such a trade in doubt. "What if" stories just don't cut it. There are to many variables in play.
