Get Ready For A Slug Of New Earning Reports. Starting With G.M. and Ford
The stock Ford reports 7/30/2025 (Post-Market). In a July 2nd blog I did Ford talked about their June sales. Here is something I posted in that blog. Ford jumped $.50 cents on news of an increase in sales and this is how this one series of Calls (which were "out-of-the-money" with one day to go) jumped. This upward moment in price was like an once in a 100 day occurance.
So will earning's be good this quarter? Has Ford's recent good news story about increased sales in the month of June now lost it's importance? It's only natural to now be forward thinking.
General Motors has an earnings report coming out before the market opens this Tuesday. These two stocks sometimes reflect the same market momentim. G.M. seems to have a lot of inventory sitting on it's dealers lots and You Tube videos now scream that the car industry is about to crash. It's stock had the jutters all week but a nice run as of late.
Investors are getting tired of hearing about consumers buying new at pre-tariff pricings. Things might start to slow down. All I really know is that the volume of trading in both the Calls and Puts on G.M. are next to nonexistent. For this reason alone I would stay away.
Now a look at Ford and it's options going into Monday morning July 21st.
The drop in it's share price this week was interesting. Reported sales numbers are going to be solid. Now this. There was recall news for like some 694,000 vehicles. That's quite a large number. There are more ongoing issues.
Once again, the volume in both of these series of options is very low. From here on in, it's best just to watch all of these options hour by hour. There is surely to be some fireworks.
Monday's action on G.M. Even with a smart move up and down it was difficult to make money. Stocks in the $50.00 price range swing less than stocks in let's say the $200.00 price range. Lets see what happens tomorrow. How did Ford do with earning's news not out until the following day? First the Calls and then the Puts.
Options on $10.00 stocks can swing more on a percentage basis than options on $50.00 stocks. Tomorrow will be a big day. Ford Puts have a wild card factor, meaning anuthing can happen quickly. To be continued.
