Boeing "Near-To-The-Money" Options Baffles Me On A Friday Morning.

After a four day period of intense price changes for the stock Boeing on Friday morning presents itself as trading in a sea of calm. It's trading flat. Here is it's daily price swings over the previous four days. $5.50, $4:10, $6.00 and $5.40. One has to wonder whether or not these large daily price movements are somehow formulated into providing the Friday morning's "bids and ask". They should be. The reason I mention this is that the Friday morning's "bids and ask" in the first few hours of trading look particularly inexpensive to me. Is it because there are no scheduled press happening that day? .. Now a 12:33 p.m. look. .......... Now this at the end of the trading session. At 3:00 p.m., the time these options expired the stock was trading at $234.27. That in turn caused the 232.50 series of Calls to be worth just under $1.00 a contract and the Puts worthless. The rally in the stock's price near the end of the day only modestly helped ra...

Catching The Smallest of Moves. Exxon On A Friday Morning.

Image
Exxon on Friday morning. It's five day and one day charts. .............. ..... No real volume in the Calls. Now this. Volume is coming in. It would be nicer to see the spread shrink a little bit. At this price the option makers are putting on a brave face to cover up the low of $.44 which just happened. Let's see if a rebound happens in ten minutes. Not really but the rate of declining seems to be slowing down. If you check the Puts you can see the downward action is stabilizing. In a way this is a good indication that now is a good time to jump into the Calls. Now watch this. Now this. Now this 5 minutes later. At 10:24 a.m. it's chart looks healthy. Now at 10:30 a.m. Now at 10:54.a.m. We caught the morning rebound without to much worry. That was the game plan. Getting out would make sense no matter what we leave on the table. *** Now this nine minutes later. These options just lost most of their gains! Sometimes it's good to be nimble! Now this at 1...

"Bigbear Ai" Options Going Into A Friday.

Image
Why am I talking about "Bigbear Ai". By share volume it was the most actively traded stock this week on the NYSE. It droppedd $.66 cents on the week and was down 10.9%. Look at how the $5.50 series of Calls and Puts are poised to trade tomorrow ( friday). I talked about Bigbear Ai options in an introductory blog for the first time only a few days ago. The stock was down over 5% in one day today (Thursday) and the 5.5 series of Calls sank in price from a high of $.98 down to a low of $.14 on the close. Traders can now bet on it rebounding on the opening. Traders that is who made money all week speculating on this companies options and who can now afford to stay in the game. Others who also know about the crazy trading patterns of this stock might opt to wait until next week to join the party once again. ............. Look at how the stock traded on the week up until Thursday at the close. Friday's action should be interesting. To be continued. Now a 12:30 p.m. update. It...

Changes In The Wind - Trading "Google" On A Thursday

Image
One of the nice things about trading options on the stock "Google" is that no one has any preconceived notions as to how it is going to trade tomorrow or the next day. Company annoucements tend to be big ... like the building of more infrastructure which will take years to happen. It's not like with the company Ford which could be this week announcing recalls on every green Bronco it made in the last three years and then next week have recalls on something else. The last time "Google" had an earning's report come out was back in October so there is nothing much new to worry about in their near term. That's my deterimation, I could be wrong. Look at this chart on Thursday November 20th. It's of "Google" trading in the morning. When I scanned across a number of stocks this morning about thirty five minutes into the trading session this was one of the few stocks moving up sharply in price. Have I been following "Google" closely over ...

Can You Play Exxon Crashing On The Opening? The Quick Answer Is Yes.

Image
Here is it's five day chart. I have talked about these options before. Exxon drops on the opening. The Puts going into the trading session obviously did well. Is it time to buy the Calls for a rebound? Here are two series to look at. Only one contract traded in the first five minutes of trading. That tells us traders do not see this as being an amazing opportunity. It also shows us that experienced option traders have taught themselves to wait before they attempt to participate in any kind of a rebound. That's what you have to teach yourself to do. ....... Does this change at the 15 minute into the market time period? I can't tell for sure however it looks like someone may have bought a block of 50 contracts in the 116 series of Calls. Here we are at 10:00 a.m. Could this be the bottom? Now here we are at 12:22 p.m. Happy times are here again. The 115 series of Calls which were trading for $1.87 at 9:46 a.m. now at 12:22 p.m have moved upwards to $2.70. The 116 ser...
